Backtrack ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application designed to help Working Holiday Visa (WHV) holders in Australia track their regional work days. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Backtrack:
- Account data: email address and encrypted password (managed by Supabase Auth)
- Visa information: visa type (417 or 462), WHV number (1st or 2nd), entry date in Australia, visa expiry date
- Work records: work dates, employer name, hours worked, gross pay (optional), notes (optional)
- Subscription status: whether you have a free or Pro plan
2. How We Use Your Data
- To calculate and display your regional work day counter (88 or 179 days)
- To estimate your gross pay and superannuation accumulated
- To provide access to the employer map and farm directory
- To manage your subscription (Pro plan)
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored on Supabase servers located in Sydney, Australia (region ap-southeast-2)
- Data is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data
- All communications between the app and our servers use HTTPS encryption
- Your password is never stored in plain text
4. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database and authentication (Privacy Policy)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (Privacy Policy) — Pro plan only
- Apple App Store — app distribution and in-app purchases
We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking tools.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
Under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR where applicable), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
7. Children's Privacy
Backtrack is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Backtrack after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
